This month Altitude training arrived at the PTS Endurance centre. If you looking for that extra advantage on the sports field or wanting to acclimatize before heading to away to somewhere high, come in and have a chat about it.

Duathlon:

At the Contact National Duathlon championships in Taupo this month Carey Wood won the vet men’s 50-54 category, Jared Pidcock got 4th in the year 8 boys, Chloe Jenkins got 9th in the U14 girls and Gabby Gray placed 3rd in the U19 school race.
Emily Wood placed second in the 18-19 year old girls sprint race and Margaret Wood won the vet women’s sprint.

This winter there has been a series of three Duathlons held down in Ashburton, with the final coming up on September 8th.
In the last race Chloe and Jared both won their age groups and Sam Bell placed second overall.
Back in early August Dean Cameron placed 2nd in the open men’s race in the third and final round of the JD Duathlon series.

Cycling:

The Cuddon junior tour was held in Blenheim over the last weekend of August with schools from all over the country turning up to race over four stages. In the Rangi ruru team Charlotte Hand won the overall U20 girls grade, taking a couple stage wins. Tessa Jenkins came second equal with Lucy Timmings tied on time at the end. Tessa also won the points race.
Rose Marshell-Lee got second in the Time trial in the U17 girls and Olivia Podmore won the QOM jersey .
In the U13 girls, Ava Moora cleaned up winning all three jerseys and all four stages.
The Rangi ruru senior girls Time Trial team took out the Litoff cup for the second year running in a good battle beating Villa Maria and Christchurch girls high to the line respectively.

Running:

With a tough 400m of elevation gain, Natasha Douglas finished a strong second women in the Ashley forest off road half marathon at the end of the month.
Margaret Wood won the womens section in the 10km running race held in conjuction will the third Duathlon.
