May 2015

Cycling:

  • What a great Club Road Nationals PT System riders had up in Napier this year. Sharlotte won both the Elite women’s Time Trial and road race. Sharon did the same in her category. Sue won her TT and placed 2nd in the road race. Campbell Pithie got 3rd in the competitive U17 boys grade road race. Jeremy got 4th in the TT.
  • A little earlier in the month at the 2015 Canterbury Road champs many PT Systems athletes performed well. Jeremy Heathfield (3rd TT, 5th RR), Martin Smallman (1st TT, 3rd RR), Sharlotte Lucas (1st TT), Sue Lazar (2nd RR) and Sharon Prutton (1st TT, 1st RR).
  • Sharlotte wins the 2015 Le Race.
  • Ione Johnson places 4th in the firt round of the Elite series held out in Oxford.
  • Martin Ryder won the Hokitiki club champs in a convincing way, mid February.
  • We have a elite womens national sliver medalist in the house. A awesome effort by Sharlotte Lucas saw her place second in the elite womens road race in January held for the last time on the tough Christchurch circuit.
  • Jared Pidcock had a great Skins GP coming home in a respectable 4th in the final sprint.

 

Mountain Biking:

  • At the 125km Contact Epic down in Wanaka this year PT Systems had two riders competing with Shane Kennedy coming in 10th and Glen 12th.
  • Trent Williams had a great Tour of Wakatipu, winning his category and finishing his season on a high.
  • Mike Smart came a close second in the Kaiwara challenge, steaming home over the final kilometres at the winner but just leaving it a tad to late. Mike Chappell placed 3rd in the vet 3 catergory with Michelle Prutton winning hers and Trent Williams placing 4th in the vet 1’s.
  • Riding an Endro event for the first time Glen Currie thanks to a ourse slightly more friendly on the uphill than usual, place second overall.
  • At the annual Hammerhead MTB race held around the tracks in Hanmer springs. PT Systems had a large continuant of riders racing. Glen Currie(7th Male), Marc Prutton(8th), Shane Kennedy, Trent Williams, Brooke Hudson (2nd female) and Sharon Prutton (3rd female)

Triathlon:

  • The NZ Tri-series Duathlon which also doubled as the New Zealand Team selection race for the worlds later this year was held out at Orana Park in Christchurch. Sam Bell and Margaret Wood winning their division’s and Andy Taylor placing 8th in his.
  • In North Canterbury the Kowai duathlon held on the last weekend of March was a good fun day out with Sam, Margaret and Dan Collis heading out for a Run and Ride. All three winning their category’s.
  • A large contingent of PT Systems athletes took on Challenge Wanaka this year with Dean Cameron finishing 3rd place in his age group in his first attempt at the full distance. In the half Carey Wood, Andy Taylor, Emily Wood, Margaret Wood and her team mate all finished well on the cracking day.
