I have used Marc’s coaching services for just on a year now. In 2013 I decided to have another crack at the Longest Day Coast to Coast, with a young family and a full time job I knew the chances of a podium position were stacked against me. To manage the stresses of work, family and training I decided to take the planning aspect out of my training and sort the assistance from Marc @ PT Systems. Marc was excellent he took all extra commitments into consideration and created a programme that was both manageable and effective. Marc worked with me on a weekly basis to keep the program fluid and relevant to how I was feeling. I found his programmes refreshing and actually got excited about opening my weekly plan to see what was in store.
Marc was prompt on returning emails when I had questions in regards to my training and was always willing and available to discuss training and the juggles of life when I required.
I am pleased to say with the assistance from Marc I managed a third place in the 2014 Longest Day Coast to Coast, 1st Mt Peel Mountain Bike Marathon, 2nd Big Day at the Office Race, 3rd Mt Somers MTB Race, 2ndPengzhou Longman Mountain Challenge, China, 1st Wulong Mountain Quest, China.
As both an athlete and a Physical Education Teacher I would fully recommend a coach for endurance sport as being just as important if not more as that new set of wheels. “I first met Marc Prutton late 2009 when I began cycle training with him. Exercise had not been part of my life for many years and I doubted the value of using a coach but decided to give it a go, learn a few things and then carry on myself. Now two and a half years later I still have Marc as my trainer and I credit him for what has been life changing for me. As a 50 something year old I now again appreciate that exercise is critical to life and Marc has helped me achieve amazing goals including completing several cycling events up to 160km in length. Marc’s approach to training is very different to many trainers or coaches you will find. He is concerned about your whole well being and not just cycling. He gives advice on everything from your posture to nutrition and from flexibility to injury prevention. His understanding of sports physiology allows him to easily explain how each exercise will improve performance and he develops a clear training plan to follow between training sessions. He does that in discussion with me regarding the goals I wish to achieve and my limitations to training (eg my extensive work travel) and he builds the gym, running and travel in to the programme. Marc brings enthusiasm and motivation to training sessions and is able to assess just how far he can challenge me before I will ‘put my feet down’. He has taken me from a somewhat reluctant nervous non cyclist to a cycling ‘junky’ by encouraging me to try new skills and increasing challenges to meet my goals. He is incredibly patient even when progress at times is slow and when hills just seem too far out of my reach (at least in my head). There is no goal that is not achievable so when I suggested to Marc that I might like to participate in the Coast to Coast race in 2014 he immediately set about planning what I would need to do each month until the event to achieve the goal. Never was there a question that I was biting off more than I could chew. I feel very lucky to have been training with Marc and highly recommend him to anyone wanting to enjoy cycling both road and mountain, running and kayaking. Hi Marc, I just want to say thank you for the programme and results I got this season from your coaching and attention to detail. You built on the work you had done with me previously. You listen to how much or as is the case with me how little time I actually have for cycling and you made me make the most of every time I rode. You were never late for appointments and the programmes were easy to follow and well thought out. You encourage me to Club Race and on top of that you helped me achieve 2 National Age Group tiles in Cambridge this year, the results speak for themselves but without your help and guidance I know those medals would not have been possible, what more can I say but Thank You.
